Shelton Austin focuses his practice on intellectual property law, with an emphasis on strategic patent portfolio development and analysis. Mr. Austin prepares and prosecutes patent applications in a variety of fields that include, among others, wireless communications, video coding, image analysis, computer-generated imagery (CGI) animation, home automation, network security, software, electronics, and medical devices.
Mr. Austin is also involved with various pro bono projects, including coordinating the United States Patent and Trademark Office Patent Pro Bono Program for west coast offices.
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Austin was an associate in the San Diego office of a national intellectual property law firm. During law school, he worked as a patent agent for an intellectual property law firm in San Diego. Before attending law school, Mr. Austin worked as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office.
